Plantation shutters are a great investment for any home, but many homeowners feel the pressure to make sure that they get their perfect shutters. Many people’s first thought strays towards the colour, but are you aware of the extensive range of bespoke finishes that you could opt for? Let’s explore them…

Choose your colour…

White shutters are considered a timeless colour choice for shutters of all designs, but this often means that additional colour options go unnoticed and unconsidered. Depending on the material you opt for, you can be introduced to a world of colours and tones, from whites and creams through to greys and browns. Custom colour matches could also be available for your shutters, allowing you to achieve a tone that matches popular paint brands such as Dulux and Farrow & Ball.

Choose your louvre size…

The louvres on your shutters are also tailorable, allowing you to choose a design that is perfect for you and your home. There are five sizes available, with each option presenting its own effects, appearance, and advantages. Ranging from 47mm to 114mm, you can achieve a style that suits you perfectly. No matter your chosen shutter style, you can achieve an adjustable louvre solution that brings ease to your daily lifestyle.

Decide on the placement of your tilt rod…

Your tilt rod is the mechanism that allows your louvres to open with ease and in unison. There are three main placements which you could opt for. Central tilt rods sit pride of place in the middle of your louvres, whilst offset tilt rods are shifted to the left or the right. Hidden tilt rods, also referred to as the silent tilt, connect the louvres within the side stile of the panel, so there will be no visible rod on show. Instead, you tilt the louvres by moving one by hand, allowing the rest to follow simultaneously.

Will you want a blackout finish?

Shutters are excellent at limiting the amount of light that can enter a room and can provide a near-blackout solution for every room. However, by integrating a blackout blind within your shutters, you can take this level of darkness to the next level, achieving a complete black out finish that is ideal for bedrooms and home cinemas. On top of the increased darkness and privacy, you can expect enhanced insulation which increases the energy efficiently of your home further.
